Townshend Seismic bars

Sleek, strong and adjustable

TThe adjustable design allows you to tailor the bars to various speakers, provided they fall within the recommended weight thresholds, ensuring versatility and optimal audio performance. Each bar comprises a very strong steel cross-piece with raised ends, under which are attached two Seismic Load Cells™.that, chosen to match the weight of your speakers.

When space is at a premium

The Townshend Seismic Bars offer more space-saving advantages than the larger Seismic Podiums. With a slimmer profile, they take up less floor space, making them less visually intrusive in your listening environment. Their adjustable design allows them to fit a wide range of speakers as long as the paired speakers have similar weights. This flexibility, combined with their discreet presence, makes Seismic Bars an ideal solution for those seeking effective vibration isolation without sacrificing space or aesthetics.

choosing correct size for your seismic Bars

The Seismic Bars are available with five different weight range capacities, varying progressively from less than 5kg up to potentially over 75kg.

We strongly recommend using Seismic Podiums for loads above 30kg however it is possible to up to 75kg with Subs and low centre of gravity components for ease of use and stability reasons; especially on equipment taller than 1m and/or high centre of gravity.

We suggest, for reasons of ease of set-up and loads that are not equally distributed, that consumers always select the stronger Load Cell where two values overlap the calibrated chart used for selecting the correct loadcell known as a ‘loadcell selection chart’

For example, when using four (4) type “C” Load Cells, the maximum supported weight should be equal to or less than 52.4 Kg.

Utilizing a similar isolation technology as the Seismic Podiums, the bars feature a more straightforward construction that maintains performance without the heavy encasing, isolating vibrations down to 3Hz for significant sonic improvements.

Instalation

To install, first, remove any spikes or cones from your speakers and slip one bar under the front of the speaker. Then tilt the speaker forward and slide the second bar under the rear. Very small adjustments allow for setting the speakers vertical. Even though the speakers are floating, it takes a very big push to topple them.

Townshend Audio Seismic Isolation Bars – Elevate Your Sound, Silence the Floor
Discover the ultimate upgrade for your audio system with the Townshend Audio Seismic Isolation Bars for Speakers and Subwoofers (starting at £750 per pair). Handcrafted in the UK, these innovative isolation bars sever the acoustic connection between your speakers and the floor, banishing unwanted vibrations that muddy your sound and disrupt your listening space. Whether you’re running floor-standing towers, stand-mounted monitors, or thunderous subwoofers, the Seismic Isolation Bars deliver a transformative clarity that lets your music breathe freely—priced for the serious audiophile who demands perfection.
Break the Acoustic Chain
Speakers don’t just project sound into the air—they transmit vibrations through the floor, creating a feedback loop that blurs bass, smears mids, and sends disturbances rippling through your home. The Seismic Isolation Bars put an end to this chaos. Designed to be used in pairs under any speaker type, each bar features a robust steel cross-piece with raised ends, supporting two Seismic Load Cells™. These highly compliant cells effectively “float” your speakers in the room, isolating them from floor-borne vibrations above 3Hz in all directions—up/down, left/right, and back/forth. The result? A cleaner, more focused soundstage that reveals every nuance of your music, untainted by structural interference.
Engineered for Sonic Freedom
The magic of the Seismic Isolation Bars lies in their Seismic Load Cells™, a Townshend innovation that combines extreme compliance with precision engineering. Suspended on these cells, your speakers become decoupled from the floor’s influence, allowing their drivers to move freely without the damping effect of surface integration. Bass tightens, mids gain transparency, and highs shimmer with detail—your system will sound more alive, more dynamic, and truer to the recording. Plus, by preventing vibration transmission downward, these bars double as a neighbor-friendly solution, keeping your audio bliss contained to your listening space.
Tailored to Your Setup
Versatility is key with the Seismic Isolation Bars, available in five weight-range capacities to suit any speaker or subwoofer:
  • Less than 5kg: Perfect for lightweight stand-mounts.
  • Up to 13.2kg: Ideal for medium-sized speakers (using four “B” Load Cells).
  • Up to 52.4kg: Great for larger floor-standers or subs (using four “C” Load Cells).
  • Up to 75kg+: Handles hefty systems with ease (using higher-capacity cells).
Each pair is meticulously tuned to support loads from featherweight monitors to massive subwoofers. For setups exceeding 30kg—or taller equipment over 1m with a high center of gravity—we recommend switching to Seismic Podiums for single-handed loads up to 75kg, ensuring stability and ease of use. When weights overlap in the capacity chart, opt for the stronger Load Cell for hassle-free setup and balanced performance—e.g., four “C” Load Cells support up to 52.4kg, including any base plate.
Simple Setup, Lasting Impact
Installation is straightforward: place a pair of Seismic Bars under your speaker or subwoofer, adjust for level, and let the Load Cells do the rest. Crafted from high-strength steel and finished with Townshend’s signature attention to detail, these bars are built to last, backed by a 5-year warranty. The subtle lift—just enough to decouple—won’t alter your room’s aesthetics, but the sonic improvement will be unmistakable. Audiophiles report “night-and-day” differences: tighter basslines, a wider soundstage, and a quieter background that lets every instrument shine.
Key Features:
  • Vibration Isolation: Blocks frequencies above 3Hz, severing floor connection.
  • Design: Steel cross-piece with two Seismic Load Cells™ per bar.
  • Weight Options: Five capacities from <5kg to over 75kg.
  • Applications: Floor-standing speakers, stand-mounts, and subwoofers.

I just installed the bars [under the Amphion Two 18’s]. They sound amazing. The effect on the clarity across the range, soundstage, and bass cleanup has to be heard to be believed.”
